The business challenge


Our client was initially concentrating on Training CD development and sales. Aspiring to expand, the company planned to enter the Application Service provider model, leveraging the knowledge base and training repository at hand. This led to the concept of a web based application – LCMS. HIfx developed a Learning Content Management System (LCMS). By developing the system, HIFX was able to conceive a business idea from the product.

Solution


The system supports both Content creation and Content delivery in various formats (mime types). The LCMS has built in pre and post assessment tools to track the learner’s progress. Management and reporting features that analyze the effectiveness of courses and individual learning objects are also incorporated. The system adheres to ADL SCORM 1.2 standards. The multi lingual job portal had to be designed to incorporate all features to make it a full fledged employment exchange with an efficient business model to propel its services. Hence our challenge was to design a package that had an end-to-end solution for a Staffing Agency that wanted to go online with their services.

The most popular vernacular in the media industry of INDIA with a subscription of over a million copies of its daily.

The business challenge


Our client is an undisputed leader in the area of publishing and the largest circulated newspaper in India. To reach out to the internet audience, they had an online news content delivery portal. As a next step, to invite subscriptions to their publication and exploit the online business opportunities, the management decided to develop an E-commerce suite and Subscription module that could cater to international audience.

Solution



  • HIFX developed a complete e-commerce suite for this portal for online sales of its various publications and services with credit card transactions through secure servers. This included a catalog system, order processing system, shopping cart and inventory management system. The online transaction uses the payment gateway server “PAYSEAL” - a secure, real-time, scalable internet payment platform from ICICI e-payments Ltd.
  • The enterprise platform technology Java/J2EE was used to develop this application, with Oracle 9i as database server and BEA WebLogic as the Application server.
  • HIFX also developed SMS technology based flash news delivery on Mobile phones for the portal subscribers. To this regard, Technical components were designed and developed by HIFX to provide a connection to the SMS gateway server using the J2EE Platform technology.

A popular drink dispense gas supplier with over 60% coverage in UK.

The business challenge


Our client, being one of the most popular suppliers for drinks dispense gases, was contemplating rapid expansion in business. But however, the current distribution model undertaken constrains the implementation of a franchisee model. It is limited to an offline and non-scalable manual process which couldn’t be extended seamlessly. In order to escalate the distribution model into one with a franchisee perspective with mobile connectivity and synching with the HO, they sought HiFX expertise. The envisaged solution had to meet the demanding requirements of the working model of our client. It aimed at automating the delivery force by creating an application that is custom made to synchronize the delivery model execution with the accounts management in the HO through PDAs. The wireless PDA application should communicate with the central server in the HO for maintenance of accounts and stocks via a mobile server that performs routing of communication between the PDA and central servers.

Solution



  • The solution has been designed to comprise of 3 components.
    • Application layer on top of accounting package on the server in the HO.
    • Mobile server application to channel communication between central server and PDA.
    • PDA application for the delivery workforce.
  • The PDA application communicates with the central server in an online mode using GPRS.
  • Consistent synchronization of records and data using XML web services.
  • Features to exercise stock control, track expenses, manage customers, create schedules among many others.
  • The technology used for development is Microsoft .NET and Windows CE framework for mobile application development. The Database layer will be constituted of Microsoft SQL server in the application server and MS SQL CE for the mobile application..

The company explores for, develops, produces, and markets crude oil and natural gas, refines crude oil and other raw materials, and markets and distributes petroleum products and related goods and services.

The business challenge


The company was managing its paper-based records competently with an in-house records management application but realized that managing electronic records was becoming a growing challenge. The company calculated that the capacity required to store electronic records was increasing at an annual rate of 60 percent and that e-mail comprised almost two-thirds of all electronic records. Canada’s Privacy and Electronic Evidence Act would require the implementation of specific retention policies for e-mail and other electronic records. The company needed an enterprise-wide system that would enable compliance with the federal legislation yet be seamless to users.

Solution


The company implemented a Records Management solution using the EMC Documentum platform and incrementally rolled it out, bringing more departments on-board. Early adopters included the Surface Land Contracts group and Vital Records.
